Potato council

GOVERNMENT has announced the appointment of a team of 15 to sit on the new Potato Industry Development Council, under the chairmanship of David Walker. Nine of the 15 will be representing the interests of growers and the appointments run until Mar 31, 2000.

One of the first jobs for the council, which will look after research and development, promotion and exports of potatoes, will be to set the levy rate for growers, which will have to be ratified by MAFF.n
