Potato volunteers
PROLONGED volunteer potato emergence could cause arable farmers a headache, according to * L Hutchinsons technical manager, David Kirkland.
He attributes the unusually prolonged emergence to the sequence of extremely dry conditions followed by a short period of heavy rainfall and high temperatures. DowElanco trials suggest two applications of Dow Shield (clopyralid) a fortnight apart halve the production and viability of daughter tubers.n
