Pulse prices stronger since Christmas
By FWi staff
PULSE prices have remained strong since the ban on meat and bonemeal in feed, led by domestic market shorts and continued EU import demand.
Since Christmas, peas and beans have risen nearly 10 to 95-98/t ex-farm.
“They are now reaching a plateau. There could be another slight rise this week, but values may then start to ease,” says Alan Wymer of Saxon Agriculture.
“Many compounders are having problems with continuity of supply and are starting to look at other options such as soya, which is cheaper.
“Farmers should take advantage of current prices and sell while there is a buyer.”
