Record paid for homebred HF
A RECORD price of 6200gns was paid for a home-bred animal offered at the regular sale of Holstein Friesians at Lancaster last week.
It was paid for a calved heifer consigned by Jim Burrow and Son, Preston, who also received the second top price of 4100gns for another from their Stardale herd and 3000gns for a third heifer.
All were bought by dealer Alan Taylor, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancs. Sale leader was Stardale Skychief Stella, bred out of a milky dam by Wilowna Executive.
Her 4100gns herd mate, Stardale Pre Vaakje 4th, is out of a VG88 Inspiration dam. And the third animal, Stardale Royal Vaakje 3rd, is by Joylan Royal Flush – a Penn Springs Mr C son.
The Renown Factor-sired bull, R J and D Loftus Farms Weeton Navigator, made 3000gns to G Metcalfe, Lancaster. Sale champion was Denmire Skychief Present 72nd from J W and M Dennison which made 2500gns to D * Lucas, Blackburn.
An offering of Dutch heifers failed to meet buyers quality criteria and met a slow trade to average £987.
