Research allays GM ‘superbug’ fears
FEARS that genetically modified crops could give rise to antibiotic resistant “superbugs” appear to be false, according to new research.
Opponnest of GM technology claim antibiotic-resistant genes could escape and help life-threatening bacteria become resistant to drugs.
But research by Dr John Heritage of Leeds University found no evidence that the genes in GM crops are escaping, reports New Scientist magazine.
