Robot for 60 cows
Robot for 60 cows
LATEST development on the robotic milking scene comes from Liberty Dairy Systems in the form of the aptly designated Freedom unit.
Described as a non-extendible, stand-alone automatic milking system, the Freedom is claimed to be capable of servicing the milking requirements of up to 60 cows.
Installation is said to take just two days with the unit, which stands on a flat, pitless floor, is connected by a milk line, and electric and water supplies. Features include ultrasonic teat cup attachment, removal of the fore-milk, specialised cleaning of teat and milk lines, and con-ductivity sensors for mastitis detection.
With computer control and monitoring of cow identification, concentrate rationing and milk yield, the Freedom unit has a list price of £84,700.
