Rural firms sue over foot-and-mouth
By FWi staff
OWNERS of small rural businesses affected by foot-and-mouth have begun legal action against the government over its handling of the disease.
The UK Rural Business Campaign has taken the first step towards action that could cost the government 500 million, reports the Financial Times.
The organisation said it was forced into action by the governments refusal to hold a public inquiry and the way in which compensation was handled.
“The human tragedy of it all is about to be exposed,” said a spokesman.
