Scotland’ first ostrich farm forced to close

SCOTLANDS first ostrich farm has been forced to close, the victim of a slump in arable prices and the international economic crisis, where the price of ostrich skins in the Far East have plummeted.

Chris Mann set up his farm at Carrington Barns, Midlothian, in 1992.

Other ostrich ranchers are thought to be under threat. There are about 20 in Scotland.
