Scottish QA schemes ‘need further development’
SCOTLAND needs to further bolster its farm assurance identity, despite pioneering many of the schemes which exist in the UK today, according to Peter Brown, chief executive, of Scottish Quality Foods.
Scotlands involvement in farm assurance schemes has raised the profile of everything from pigs to cereals, Mr Brown said.
But he is anxious for assurance schemes to get to the stage where the qualification in Scotland will cover birth to slaughter.
This could go a long way to meet the demands of the Scottish Consumer Council whose chairman Deirdre Hutton has consistently said she could not support any assurance project which did not meet those criteria.
