Scouring fear
SERIOUS scouring may occasionally occur in lambs after treatment with the anti-coccidial Vecoxan.
In a letter to the Vet Record, May 29, Dudley Gradwell of Vecoxan manufacturers, Janssen Animal Health, asks to be notified of these cases, and for faeces samples to be taken from scouring lambs.
He says that of the 1m lambs treated with Vecoxan this year, five flocks have reported severe scouring within a few days of treatment.
This occurred when treated lambs were turned out within the previous three weeks, after an extended housing period. While most lambs recover, some have died. *
