Seed drill debut for Dowdeswell for
SMITHFIELD will see Dowdeswell enter the seed drill market for the first time.
The D Series cultivator drill is available in 6m and 8m working widths and is designed for low-till applications, operating directly into stubble or minimally-worked seed-beds.
Four rows of staggered coulters are claimed to avoid trash problems while a choice of seed outlets allows seed to be planted conventionally in rows or in a band. Drilling depth is controlled through a combination of hydraulically activated front and side mounted wheels and pivoting rear press wheels. Hopper capacity is 5000 litres.
Dowdeswell is also offering the C Series drill which is available in 3m and 4m widths, each with an 1100 litre capacity hopper. Designed to be operated in combination with a power harrow or a non-powered cultivator, the drill can be supplied with Suffolk, disc or tine coulters. A tramlining kit, covering harrows and pre-emergence markers is offered as an option.
Prices of the new drills will be announced at Smithfield. *
