SHEARING training is back on course this season and a training film is available to help beginners and those wishing to perfect their basic skills, says the Wool Board.

First Steps in Shearing – available on VHS and DVD – provides more detailed instruction than the Boards first shearing video and aims to complement preliminary training courses.

Topics include preparation of shearing area, gear and safety procedures and a detailed shearing demonstration, with particular emphasis on correct positioning and footwork. In addition, the video covers comb sharpening and wool handling.
