Sheep death dispute settled out of court

SHEEP farmers should spend more time trying to understand what is in the mind of the customer, according to Alan Craig, general manager of ABP.

Marketing is the key to business, Mr Craig told a forum meeting of the National Farmers Union of Scotland (NFUS).
Lamb prices would improve by the end of the year, though he expected to see a dip before then, he added.

Mr Craig also forecast that the market for skins would remain depressed – the “fifth quarter” was now worth about £1 against a value of £13 at one stage.

Questions were raised at the meeting about how the transfer of HLCA payments to an area basis could be achieved.
