Sheep hold firm

EWES and lambs have held a firm trade ahead of the retention period for sheep premium on May 15. Full mouth Suffolk ewes with twin lambs fetched £80 and those with four and six teeth with lambs held out to £84 at Uttoxeter, according to Bagshaws.

Elsewhere, at Barber & Sons Market Drayton sale yard trade topped £72 for ewes with twin lambs. Prices were lower at Ashford, Kent, where stock changed hands for £20 a life.
