Simple mill-and-mixer

CAPABLE of operating on a standard single phase 13Amp electricity supply, the mill and mix system from Superior (Grain Milling Equipment) based at Driffield is claimed to be simple to operate and install.

Comprising basically two units – a mill and a 0.5 or 1t capacity mixing hopper – the whole system can be bought for £2000.

The mill, which can process grain at a rate of up to 250kg/hour, delivers feed into an endless conveyor which surrounds the mixing hopper. The hopper itself consists of a flexible bag supported within a metal frame.

With a top flap in the conveyor opened feed from the mill falls into the hopper. Concentrate feed can be added through an entry chute on the other vertical side of the conveyor. To mix, the bottom of the hopper is opened allowing feed to enter the conveyor which is then taken to the top where it re-enters the hopper, mixing by recirculation.

When the mixing is deemed to have been completed the top slide is closed and slide opened on the side to enable bags to be filled as required.

Aimed at the small to medium scale stock farmer, Superior says a whole feed batch can be milled, mixed and bagged off in about 90 minutes.

Superiors mill/mixer can process grain at up to 250kg/hour.
