Sludge cake opportunity
MORE spring cropping means more opportunity to use lime-stabilised sludge cakes, says Chipping Norton-based specialist contractor Agrivert.
A typical 20-25t/ha application releases 15-20kg/ha of nitrogen in the first year and high phosphate content boosts root development, says contract manager Lewis Greenhill.
Aluminium trackways are being used to deliver sludge during the wet weather, ready for spreading ahead of drilling. Cost is £1-£1.50/t, delivered and spread within up to a 30-mile radius of production plants. *
