SNFUVP to stand
SCOTTISH NFU vice-president Peter Chapman has announced that he will stand for the presidency at the unions annual meeting on March 5. The other vice-president, Jim Walker, is also expected to stand but will not make an announcement until nearer the end of this month. He says getting on with union work, especially on Agenda 2000, is more important to members than a protracted election campaign.
Current president George Lyon is standing down in order to pursue a political career as a Lib-Dem candidate in the Scottish Parliamentary elections on May 6.
