Somerfield merger to create 5,000 jobs

SUPERMARKET giant Somerfield is to create 5,000 new jobs under its plan to revamp the stores it acquired in the merger with Kwik Save.

The new jobs will be created throughout the UK at the chains 1,400 stores. The job drive was announced yesterday as part of the companys 1 billion investment programme.

The group said it would also introduce more fresh food on to its shelves, and start home shopping and delivery services.
