South-west grain port set to roll

SOUTH-WEST cereal growers will have an added opportunity to grow for the export market as Cargill develops a new grain facility with the Bristol Port Company at Portbury.

Due for completion next January, the terminal will be able to handle "capesize" vessels loading at up to 2000t an hour, says the company.

Cargill already has a presence at Portbury, importing animal feed ingredients and aims to "double up" ships and lorries on inbound and outbound journeys.
