Sow revenue up?

CUTTING empty days in sows can boost revenue by £110 a head a year.

That is the claim of Intervet UK, which has launched a free service to help pig producers reduce empty days.

The service is based on a computer model which calculates a target figure for empty days based on details of the herd, production system and management policy. Intervet then sends a report to the producer and the herds vet for them to devise a management strategy to cut empty days.
