Specialist Insurance For Farmers Markets
By FWi Staff
ORGANISERS of farmers markets and individual store holders can now take out insurance cover, following the development of a new policy by NFU Mutual.
Selling products direct to the public carries some risk, so the move has been welcomed by the National Association of Farmers Markets.
“We want to be able to make product and public liability insurance available at attractive rates,” says NAFM co-ordinator Charlotte Bullock.
Most farmers insured with NFU Mutual are adequately covered when selling their own produce. The new scheme enables cover to be extended to include sale of processed products.
Available at a reduced premium, the scheme provides indemnity up to a limit of either 2.5m or 5m. For organisers, the cost per market is 100 or 125 depending on the required level of cover. For individuals the cost is 40 or 50.
