Spot pig quotes static

UK spot quotes for finished pigs have remained largely static this week, with baconers traded between 95p-103p/kg according to region and specification.

Lighter pigs enjoyed a more buoyant demand, with porkers up to 112p/kg and mid-weight cutters 106p-108p/kg.

One brighter spot for sellers has been in the weaner market, where a shortage of supplies and foot-and-mouth disease movement restrictions have limited numbers in some areas.

As a result, groups have been quoting up to 40 for 30kg weaners and 7kg pigs between 22 and 24.
