‘Stop arguing and push Scottish beef’
A RECENT attack by a former president of the National Farmers Union of Scotland on the poor promotion of Scottish beef provokes a passionate plea for a common approach to the problem by the editor of The Scotsmans farming section.
Fordyce Maxwell berates the Meat and Livestock Commission, the National Farmers Union of Scotland and the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers for their lack of a co-ordinated marketing policy.
Two months ago, these organisations said they would be announcing a new meat promotion organisation for Scotland.
Maxwell says they are still arguing about what form the organisation might take.
