Stop living in the past,
rural communities told

SCOTLANDS rural communities should start working together and stop living in the past, claims a Government document setting out their future.

Scottish farm minister Lord Sewel said he understood rural economies were facing real difficulties. He said agriculture and its ancillary industries had been “hard hit” by a combination of the strength of Sterling and miserable summer weather.

But he urged people and communities to take more responsibility for their own development.

The document is called: Towards a Development Strategy for Rural Scotland: The Framework.
