Suffolk ewe tops £9000 at Edinburgh
DRAFT Suffolk ewes from the Foradfourie, Glenisla, Muiresk and Strathisla flocks were offered in Edinburgh last weekend where the top price was 9000gns.
This was paid for a gimmer in-lamb to this summers 54,000gns Edinburgh ram lamb, Stockton Storm.
The gimmer, from the Mair familys Muiresk consignment, is by the Pankymoor Prelude son Muiresk Dancing Brave and out of a ewe by Cairness Cristar whose daughters have consistently "clicked" so well with Prelude. Buyer was S J Buckley who runs the Sitlow flock in Derbyshire.
Another Muiresk gimmer by Prelude and in-lamb to Cairness The Best, a son of the 68,000gns Muiresk King of Diamonds, made 5200gns to W Walker for his City flock in West Lothian.
Worcestershire breeder Mrs D Pennell paid 4800gns for a Muiresk gimmer by Cairness Caravelle in-lamb to Stockton Storm.
Gordon Wilsons Glenisla flock topped at 3500gns for a Fordafourie Braveheart gimmer in-lamb to the 10,000gns 1996 Edinburgh champion Kirkton Finale. Buyer was A J Benzie of the Meikleson flock in Turriff.
Sandy Lee offered 15 straws of semen from Cairness Comrade. The semen realised £110 a straw – thought to be a record. Buyer was David Walker, Galcantray, Nairn.
