SUMO IS

SET TO WRESTLE FORTOP SPOT

NEXT season will see the highest yielding two-row feed barley ever go on sale from New Farm Crops.

The winter type Sumo gained NIAB recommendation last November, with regional trial results showing it is suited for use throughout the UK.

On the national list it topped the yield league table with 105% of the official NIAB control varieties, a 2% margin over the next heaviest cropper Antonia.

Further independent data reveals Sumos consistently high yield potential across a range of soils and fertility levels.

New Farm Crops points out that its high yield potential is unaffected by drilling date. "In NIAB trials Sumo achieved the top yield of 107% of the control varieties whether drilled before 24 September or after 8 October," says the companys Garry Mills-Thomas.

"It is the ideal choice for growers looking for maximum yield from a feed barley, it is also easy to grow with excellent standing power and good all-round disease resistance."

Heavyweight feed

barley Sumo will be the highest yielding two-row ever, reckons NFCs Gary Mills-Thomas.
