SW England co-op calls for more quality cattle

By FWi staff

WESSEX Quality Meat Producers co-op now has a demand for more finished cattle to supply West Country-branded beef to Safeway for its supermarkets in the south-west.

Cattle selected by the co-ops fieldsmen for this contract will attract a premium price.

This new outlet has been jointly developed by the co-op and the umbrella group South West Quality Meat together with Dawn Meats and Safeway.

The branded beef will be launched on 22 November at Safeways store in Tiverton, Devon.

Wessex Quality Meat chairman Chris Tory said: “This is an excellent opportunity for us to build a long-term relationship with one of the countrys largest supermarket chains, and to ensure that locally produced beef is available to all Safeways West Country customers as a branded product.”
