Tissue tests for sulphur deficit

TISSUE test cereal and oilseed rape for sulphur deficiency with a malate to sulphur ratio tissue test, suggests HL Hutchinson.

Cereal and oilseed crops on light medium soils in East Anglia are starting to show deficiency, but even without symptoms sulphur can be limiting, warns nutrition manager Ian Perry.

"If you havent applied your final top-dressing you can use ammonium sulphate to correct deficiency but it is more important at this stage to find out what is happening to avoid the same problems next year." &#42
