Top breeders share spoils

THE spoils of the Beef Shorthorn show titles were shared between two of the breeds most prominent herds at Perth this week when bulls carrying the Chapelton and Uppermill prefixes took top honours.

Castle Douglas breeder James Biggar piloted his powerful white bull Chapelton Norseman to the supreme championship. This 74% pure-bred son of Uppermill Bews also took the junior title.

Judge Mr A R Scarth of Orkney-favoured Aberdeenshire breeder James Durnos Uppermill Remit for the reserve supreme rosette after hed stood reserve in the junior section. Remit carries 85% pure breeding and is by Glenisla James.

Chapelton Nimrod, a roan son of the herds successful sire Tofts Romany, led the senior bulls ahead of Uppermill Rocks – another son of Glenisla James – from Messrs Durno.

The 93% pure white heifer Fingask Nadia Duchess from W McGowan MBE , Fife was female champion with another white heifer by Fingask Jupiter from the same herd in reserve place. &#42

Chapleton Norseman took top honours for James Biggar.
