Two-way radio has a two-mile range

ELECTRONICS company Tecstar has now introduced the Kenwood TK3101 two-way portable radio which, insists the company, is designed for professional use.

With an operating range of up to two miles, the unit is equipped with eight RF channels compatible for use throughout Europe. Each channel can be assigned a Quiet Talk tone to minimise interference.

Battery life, says Tecstar, is enhanced by an automatic battery saver feature and there is a time-out transmission timer of one minute should the unit be accidentally held in press-to-talk mode.

Built to withstand exposure to shock, vibration, humidity, dust and light rain, price of the TK3101 is listed at £169. (01480 399499)

A NEW range of agricultural tractor filters, oils and batteries has been launched by Spaldings. Sourced, says the company, from some of the worlds leading manufacturers of these products, the range is said to be suitable for use with most popular makes and models of tractors, combines, material handlers and farm vehicles.

The fuel, oil, hydraulic and air filter range comprises 170 products – all it is claimed to OEM standard – and the lubricant range is made up of oils for engines, hydraulics and transmissions. Batteries carry a two-year guarantee and fit over 90% of UK tractor and farm vehicles.

Direct sale of these products results in competitive prices, says Spaldings. (01522-500600)

Tough phone can handle farm life

NOKIA claims its latest mobile telephone has been designed to cope with the demanding conditions frequently experienced in agriculture.

The Nokia 6250, the first in a new category of "tough" products, is claimed to be waterproof, shockproof and dust resistant.

WAP compliant, the 6250 employs shock absorbers to allow it to survive falls of up to 3m onto a hard surface. It is also equipped with waterproof membranes to keep it water tight for one minute at depths of up to 0.5m, says the manufacturer.

Weighing in at 174g, the 6250 has a talk time rated at 3hrs 15min to 5hrs 50min or a standby time of up to 336hrs.

Price of the Nokia 6250 is approximately £150 complete with network connection.
