Tourism at SAC conference

TOURISM and estate management are the two topics chosen by the farming editor of The Scotsman in his weekly comment section.

On tourism, Fordyce Maxwell reports from a recent conference for successful alternative enterprises at the Scottish Agricultural College.

These included: detailed research; sound business monitoring, attention to detail and good management.

Familiar issues cropped up at a recent meeting between the Scottish Landowners Federation and journalists, the farming editor reports.

These included: the question of links with the Conservative Party; action against rogue landowners; and the pros and cons of the right to buy for tenants.
