Tractor importer is set to do business

UNIVERSAL Tractor Imports is the new business venture set up to import Universal tractors into the UK and Ireland.

Headed up by former Universal general manager Richard Chester and Cumbrian dealer Joe Carr, the new business based at Ripon, N Yorks, has set its sights on capturing 1% of the UK tractor market in the first year – about 170 tractors.

"We have nine dealers from the previous agreement and we hope to expand this to 20," explains Richard Chester. "We also have a vast selection of spares to cover models introduced over the last 20 years."

Five models with horsepower from 50-105hp make up the Euroseries range built at Brasov, Romania, with prices ranging from £11,350 to £21,750 depending on specification.

Previously, the import agreement was with Universal Tractors – part of Group 2000 which went into receivership in June this year.
