Trade war escalates over bananas

BRUSSELS will challenge the imposition of US sanctions in the latest development in the transatlantic trade war over bananas, it emerged yesterday.

European Union (EU) ambassadors are demanding another urgent meeting with representatives from the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

The EU wants the organisations governing general council to review sthe US action which cover about 100 export items including pork.
