FRESHLAY Foods announced that Walston Poultry Farms and W R Curnick have joined the organisation.

Following the acquisition of Barradale Farm in July, Freshlay now has packing facilities in Devon, Dorset, Kent, Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Walston Poultry Farms, near Blandford in Dorset, headed by Ian Friend, will form “Freshlay Southern”.

“Having terminated our contract with Thames Valley and being a family business ourselves joining Freshlay was an easy decision to make since we share the same values,” said Ian Friend.

W R Curnick, run by Tim and Sue Curnick since the retirement of Tims father Bill, one of the founder members of Thames Valley Eggs, explained it was a hard decision to terminate their current contract.

David Watkins, chairman of Freshlay Foods, described the developments as another positive move for the company.

“Having been working colleagues with both the Curnick and Friend families, during our time with Goldenlay.
