Two more CJD deaths confirmed


The Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Surveillance Unit in Edinburgh confirmed two more deaths from the variant that is linked to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). The death toll stands at 18. A further victim Vicky Rimmer is still alive but in a coma.


The Department of Health will make an official announcement on Monday.


Seac, the governments advisory body of scientists in increasingly convinced that BSE is the direct cause of the disease.
