Unigate is now Uniq

UNIGATE has followed the trend of adopting a missplelt name and has announced that it will now be known as Uniq, reports the Financial Times.

This move, unveiled at the food distribution groups annual meeting, follows the 250m sale of its milk and cheese business.

Unigate finance director John Worby said the cost of the move would be minimal to shareholders.

He said the Uni part of the name was a link to the past and the Q stands for quality.

Ther FT reports that Unigate is considering demerging its logistics division Wincanton.

Shares rose 10% to 280p but fell back to close down 8p at 262p.
