Union embarks on annual roadshow
By FWi staff
FARMERS and growers are taking to the road again this year to promote British food and attempt to answer consumer questions.
On Friday (05 May) the National Farmers Union Food and Farming Roadshow embarks on a four-month tour, to take in 100 destinations.
Revisions to meet foot-and-mouth movement restrictions mean that these include city centres, seaside resorts and supermarket forecourts.
NFU president Ben Gill said: “Despite having to drastically revise the schedule, farmers felt it was more important than ever to get out there this year and meet the public.
“We need to let consumers know that farmers are fighting back and we want to say thank you for the huge support they have received.”
On Friday the roadshow, which is sponsored by the Crop Protection Association, Sainsburys and Vauxhall, will be at the Spalding Flower Parade, Lincolnshire.
