Vertical auger feeder launch by Kverneland
KVERNELAND has moved into the vertical auger sector of the diet feeder market with the introduction of a three-strong range with capacities of 10, 12 and 14cu m.
The KD 710, 712 and 714 models – which complement the firms horizontal auger range – will handle round or big bale silage, straw and hay, and clamp silage.
Shredding is by serrated steel knives on the mixing auger working in conjunction with two adjustable counter knives in the wall of the mixing chamber, which are hydraulically withdrawn once the chop is sufficiently short.
Feed discharge, to either side, is by a hydraulically driven, variable speed chain and slat conveyor mounted at the front or the rear of the machine. Flow rate is controlled through a vertically mounted, hydraulically operated discharge door.
Specification includes integral steps and an inspection platform; options include a standard electronic shear beam weighing system or a three-point linkage mounted programmable unit, and a one side only rising discharge conveyor.
The auger drive gearbox and the auger are constructed as a single assembly, which is bolted to the steel plate floor of the mixing chamber.
This design, says Kverneland, reduces wear on all gearbox components by allowing the weight of the auger to be taken by the tub floor, not the gearbox. *
