Virus hits Highland salmon farms

FEARS for the salmon farming industry in Highland Scotland are growing after another fish farm was yesterday struck down with the deadly ISA virus.

The Scottish Office said infectious salmon anaemia had been confirmed at a salmon farm in Loch Creran. The outbreak has also hit two farms in Loch Nevis, near Mallaig, and one in Loch Snizort, in Skye. The announcement brings the number of farms hit by the disease to six.
