Wages Board plea

THE planned statutory minimum wage must not be allowed to affect the sovereignty of the Agricultural Wages Board, according to Transport and General Workers Union general secretary Bill Morris.

Mr Morris said the board, which had survived under the Conservative government despite threats from time to time that it would be disbanded, had helped provide a degree of equality and social justice for the nations farm workers.n
