Welsh vote on beef ban next week

THE new Welsh assembly will vote on a motion lifting the beef-on-the-bone ban next week, meaning that the regulation could be scrapped in Wales later this summer.

Meanwhile, The Herald

reports that members of the new Scottish parliament also look set to come under pressure to lift the beef ban following the lead taken in Wales.

A former Scottish president of the Royal Environmental Health Institute, has attacked the governments beef-on-the-bone ban as a “farce”, says the paper.

John Milne told a conference in Dunblane that the ban was a “hastily put together, ill thought out and totally unusable piece of legislation”.
