A cool way to make metalwork easier
IT is often a hassle removing heat sensitive components such as valves or seals before the process of welding, brazing or grinding.
To cut out the bother, a surface cooling spray which controls the conduction of heat up to 1600C, (3000F) is available from Agriemach.
Developed as a fire suppressing agent, the product is also designed to rapidly cool hot materials after fabrication work.
As a result, the spray prevents distortion of thin metals by displacing heat evenly across the materials surface and cross section.
Comprising a 900ml bottle and trigger spray applicator, the price is £15.99 (01342-713743).
Long-life coulters stay the course
WORN coulter tips greatly reduce drilling performance by giving poor seed placement and, therefore, reduced crop establishment.
To prevent patchy drilling, a coulter tip which is claimed to last three times the life of a cast version has been introduced by Spaldings.
The secret formula is in the tips Durafaced wearing surface which is designed to drastically reduce wear. The Durafacing process involves a mixture of extremely durable metal alloys applied to the wearing surfaces before final heat treatment. Durafaced coulter tips will fit KRM, Stanhay, Amazone and Accord drills and are priced from £8.84. (01522-500600).

EVER wanted to monitor a crops growing conditions without relying on the weatherman?
ELE International has introduced a portable weather station which can be used to measure a wide range of growing conditions. These include wind speed/direction, rainfall, air/soil temperature, humidity, solar radiation and barometric pressure.
The Cumulus automatic weather station uses sensors to take readings at intervals from between 1 second and 24 hours. Maximum, minimum, average and running totals for each sensor can be calculated and stored with the memory which has a capacity of up to 60,000 readings.
According to the company, the device can be set up for work in under five minutes by adjusting the three tripod legs to the desired height. Price £2600 (01442-218355).
