WHICHVARIETYSTOPOFTHECROPS?
THE hunt is on for the UKs most popular cereal variety. Organised by NIAB, in conjunction with Reed Farmers Publishing Group, the NIAB Cereal Cup Award will be decided by readers of farmers weekly, Crops and FWi, making the winning variety truly the farmers favourite.
The Cereal Cup will be presented to the variety that has contributed most to the profitability of UK arable farming. It aims to reward the most complete variety, with the combination of characters needed to make it a winner on farm. It may be year-on-year reliability, flexibility in markets, or it could be a unique set of features that make this variety the one for your farm.
The 12 varieties shown on the form alongside have been short-listed by members of the NIAB Association from the fully recommended varieties on the 2001 UK recommended lists.
Use the list to select the variety you consider to have contributed the most to improving the profitability of UK farms. You can select one variety from each crop type, or leave some crop types blank if you wish.
All entries must be returned by 28 Jan 2001. Forms completed correctly will be entered into the prize draw for a pair of tickets to the awards dinner on 8 Feb 2001, with guest speaker Emlyn Hughes OBE, plus overnight accommodation in Cambridge.
