White clover blend increases productivity by 25%

Barenbrug’s Ensign white clover mix has been used on Lyegrove Farm, Gloucestershire, as part of its conversion from conventional to organic.

Agricultural Merchant, Healthy Cows, who over seeded the pasture with the white clover at a rate of 6kg an acre, has increased the grass productivity by at least 25%.

Farm owner, Michael Sainsbury says “we are very pleased with the results.”

Cows are doing very well and are averaging 29 litres which is good for organic cows, says healthy cows founder Mike Hobbis.

Nitrogen and protein rich white clover brings an array of benefits to livestock farmers, including savings on the rising costs of fertiliser and improved grazing value.
