McHale 991B round
bale-wrapper
This high-output machine, worth £8475, will produce a tightly-wrapped bale that retains all the natural juices to give maximum nutritional benefit as well as protecting the environment. It comes with a ground-supported bale damper that gently lowers the bale to the ground and eliminates stress on the machines chassis. When the rotating table stops and is raised to the tip position, the heavy-duty bale damper raises to cradle the bale while a second arm is lowered automatically to the ground. Even the heaviest of bales can be handled gently in this way.
A hydraulically-operated cut-and-tie system cuts the film and holds it in position ready to wrap the next bale. This avoids the need to manually reattach the film and works in all weathers.
The McHale dispenser unit consist of two aluminium rollers geared to each other with steel gears of different ratio, giving a consistent film stretch of 70% that ensures optimum film usage. A 55% stretch gear-ratio is also available for warmer climates.
The 991B also comes with a bale wrap monitor, wide low-ground-pressure tyres, film roll holders, a self-loading arm, counterbalance weight, bale support bobbins and a shear bolt unit. The latter protects the gearbox when wrapping misshapen bales.
Optional equipment available includes a single joystick which allows the operator to control all functions from the tractor seat and quickly change from one function to another.
McHale 995LM small
square bale-wrapper
The £3900 995LM is designed to wrap small square bales from a conventional square baler. Small round bales may also be wrapped. The machine comes as standard with a bale counter, 250mm prestretch unit and bale support bobbins. It is hydraulically-driven and control is through a single bank valve mounted on the side of the machine.
Operation involves attaching the machine to a tractor or hydraulic power pack, loading the bale manually on to the machine, attaching the film and operating the single bank valve. When the desired number of rotations has been reached an alarm will sound. The operator then cuts the film and removes the bale from the machine manually.
McHale 691BH round
bale handler
This £730 machine allows both wrapped and unwrapped round bales to be transported. When shifting wrapped bales, two adjustable rollers powered by a double-acting hydraulic ram close to cradle the bale to allow it to be carried safely.
When you remove the rotating rollers, the unit transforms into a spiked bale handler capable of carrying two unwrapped bales of silage at a time. Lift capacity is 1100kg and one double-acting hydraulic service is needed.
So how do you win one of these machines? Simply look at the list of six features of McHale equipment and decide what you think is their correct order of importance. So if you think models and options to suit all situations is the most important, write D in the box on the coupon marked 1. And so on.
When you have filled in the coupon, send it to us. Closing date is Apr 9, 1999.
