Windward Galloway makes 3000gns

A BULL closely related to the record-breaking 23,000gns bull sold in the late 1980s topped the bidding at 3000gns at last weeks Galloway Cattle Society sale at Castle Douglas.

Windward of the Reddings, from George Wilson, Moffat, Dumfriesshire stood champion and was bought by R and R Dalglish, Sanquhar, Dumfries.

German breeder Mrs Masdall, who owns one of the worlds largest herds of Galloway cattle, paid 1800gns for the junior champion, Xcalibur of Ashfield from Willie Maclean, Oban. The bull, by a Glenkiln sire, will remain in the UK.

The reserve champion bull, Huntly Director, from R and M McIntosh, Selkirk made 1700gns to D Jackson, Newcastleton.
