Wisbech prepares for NF march

A NORFOLK town is battening down the hatches after reports that the far-right National Front is to march there in support of jailed farmer Tony Martin.

Businesses in Wisbech, the nearest town to Mr Martins home at Emneth Hungate, are shutting up shop on Saturday (13 May).

Local markets and social events are also cancelled.

Residents talk of “panic and hysteria”, and fear of a counter-protest from travellers which could lead to violent clashes, reports The Independent.

Mr Martins lawyers say they do not approve of the National Front hijacking the case for its own purposes.

The National Front will only say that it will protest in Wisbech, Ipswich or Norwich.

Mr Martin, was jailed for life after being found guilty of murdering a 16-year-old burglar in his home.
