YF CALENDARREARRANGED
YOUNG Farmers have been busy rearranging their events diary after foot-and-mouth wreaked havoc with their calendar.
A new members week – supported by a big poster campaign – is planned for October
20-27, with clubs around the country organising events to attract new recruits.
A Wild Winter Weekend will be held on November 16-18 in Torquay. "This will not be the same as the annual convention, but we felt we needed to hold something to put a bit of fun back into everyones lives," says a spokesperson for the National Federation of YFCs.
The new event at the Devon resort will include an agricultural forum, discos and a range of informal
competitions and events. The AGM will take place on October 20.
Work hard, play hard is the ethic of many Young Farmers. And competitions, though fun, can be a fiercely-fought business. Pictured is a snapshot of the action at the Drill crew tournament at last summers Norfolk Show. Based on the Royal Tournaments gun carriage race, the event sees a piece of kit manoeuvred around an obstacle-strewn circuit.
