Do you have an employee that is worth their weight in gold? Or are your proud of your own achievements and think you have the makings of the 2010 Farmworker of the Year?
Farmworker of the Year, sponsored by Isuzu, is a new category in the 2010 Farmers Weekly awards.
We know that farmworkers - male and female - are a vital lynchpin in the success of the agricultural industry in the UK and we want to reward them for their efforts.
The winner of this new award could be a tractor driver, herdsman, milker, shepherd, gamekeeper, sprayer operator, farm fitter, farm secretary or simply an all-round general worker supporting a farm.
We are looking for a person, full- or part-time, who has made a significant impact on the farm or business they work for - whether they have been on the farm for three or 30-plus years.
The judges will be looking for examples of how the individual has contributed to the business, their key strengths and how well they influence other people.
The closing date for entries is 31 July and we'll then pick three finalists who will each receive a visit from the judging panel during either August and September (we know it is a very busy time of the year, but the visit will only last a couple of hours).
Farmworkers can enter themselves, or be entered by their employer. However, both must sign the entry form.
If you are an employee then this is a great way to give your CV a boost and see how you compare with other farmworkers. If you are the boss, then what better way to show a member of your team how valued they are by you and your family.
You can get a copy of the entry form by contacting Marion Phillips on 020 8652 4081 or visit www.fwi.co.uk/awards
