Mobile reed beds could be the answer to minimising accidental water pollution, says a Somerset environmental company.

Aardvark EM is due to trial the lightweight reed beds across Exmoor from next month.

Funded by Exmoor National Park it will treat four different types of waste water - agricultural, domestic, industrial and leisure.

If the trial proves successful, Aardvark will roll out the mobile reed beds commercially.

The beds can be deployed within four hours, allowing immediate action against unexpected pollution.

This would let farmers target accidental effluent leakages or to simply try a temporary reed bed before installing a permanent version.
